Job Description

Radley Green are partnering with an SME business in Basildon, who are recruiting for a Financial Controller.The role will report directly into the Managing Director and will oversee a small Accounts department for a business of ~£30 million turnover.The role will be based in the office 5 days a week, with parking provided on site.It will pay £70-90k DOE + benefits.Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all month and year-end processes
  • Preparing quarterly management accounts together with budgeting and cashflow forecasts
  • Supervising and developing small Accounts department
  • Comprehensive preparation for and dealing with the annual audit
  • Regular liaison with Project Managers on the financial progress of projects
  • Involvement in ERP system management
  • Identify process improvement possibilities across the business, both financial and non financial
  • Monthly payroll submissions to the bureau and annual payroll tasks
  • Monthly VAT Returns and compliance on VAT and HMRC matters
  • Bank reconciliations and reviewing or inputting payments
  • Main point of contact with banks, insurance brokers and other financial suppliers
  • Overall responsibility for credit control and ad-hoc dealings with customers and suppliers
  • Dealing with the pension scheme and all other company benefits
  • Main financial point of contact for employees.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant with experience running the finance department for an SME business
  • Experience of the Engineering or Manufacturing industry is beneficial
  • Experience and willingness to perform top to bottom financial processes
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills - capable of building relationships across the business
  • Proven commercial thinker capable of providing analysis to the Managing Director.
