Job Description

Our client based in Basildon is looking for a Driver / DIY & Warehouse Operative to join their team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced in driving a 3.5 tonne van, have a clean driving licence anda great work ethic.Main duties involve driving the customer order to its destination, unloading the delivery, building the flat pack furniture or carrying out general DIY installations for the customer (all tools are provided as is a colleague to assist you where needed).This role involves lifting up to 25kg and we are looking for someone with a calm and professional approach with great customer service skills.Duties for the Driver/DIY/Warehouse Operative role includes:-

  • Carrying out deliveries and installations when required using the company van
  • Loading and unloading of vans for deliveries
  • Putting together curtain tracks and poles in the on-site workshop using power tools
  • Forklift operation - training can be provided for right candidate
  • Ensuring that all installations and deliveries are completed to a very high and professional standard
  • Reporting on successful deliveries with the operations department
  • Ensuring all paperwork is signed and PODs are provided
Skills & experience required for the Driver/DIY/Warehouse Operative role:-
  • Full clean driving license
  • Basic fitting and furniture installations and good eye for detail
  • Background in warehousing and delivery driving 3.5 ton vehicles (min 2 years exp.)
  • Good client communication skills and an organised work ethic
  • Good geographical knowledge of London and surrounding UK roads
  • Forklift licence is a distinct advantage but not essential as training can be provided
  • Self-motivated team player who is positive, honest, reliable and punctual
  • Open to some longer days whilst driving (overtime will be paid)
