Job Description

Our clients are established and well recognised within the industry dealing with Air, Road and Sea freight and are currently looking for a customs entries clerk to prepare Customs documentation for customers. The requirements will be to comply with HMRC regulations and any new European regulations coming into force in the New Year.Purpose of the role: To ensure customs clearances are dealt with correctly and efficiently for customers in line HMRC rules and regulations.

  • Complete import and export declarations, calculating Duty/VAT per consignment
  • Liaising with customers and operations teams to collect and compile information for completion of entries into HMRC.
  • Helping customers on Tariff codes and classification of goods
  • Inputting information into software/port systems/HMRC including CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES and CHIEF.
  • Dealing with both Import and export customs entries
  • Liaise with Port Health or Customs officials
  • Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
  • Have a good understanding of Customs legal requirements and classifications
    • To be successful for the role you will need to have some experience of working within a similar role, with a knowledge of the shipping/freight industry. Along with this you will need to have good customer service and communication skills as well as attention to detail with a head for figures.Salary is negotiable depending on level of experience.
