Job Description

Youth Prevention Worker – Youth Support Service – Barnsley. Are you a passionate, dedicated Youth Prevention Worker looking for your next role 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Youth Prevention Worker to join a Youth Support Service Team based in Barnsley.Umbrella Rate: £19.91 Per Hour.Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 09:00am – 17:00pm. (This role will require an element of evening work on occasion to meet the needs of the Young People) – Hybrid.Duration: 15/10/2023 - 6 months initially.Information of the Role:

  • To work directly with Young People who are at risk or on the cusp of entering statutory interventions by planning, facilitating and deliver a range of tailored early help and support.
  • To ensure that Children, Young People, and families are effectively assessed, planned for, engaged with and suitably reviewed in a manner that enhances the likelihood of their behaviour changing.
  • To have the responsibility for the development and delivery of an early intervention and prevention offer as part of a broader diversionary scheme.
  • Develop planned interventions that have a clear initial assessment, targets and objectives which are regularly reviewed with the young person and family utilising relevant and current holistic assessment tools, referring on to specialist services as appropriate.
  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary function ensuring referrals and pathways are appropriate to the presenting level of needs and risk and that effective and responsive deployment of resources is in line with customer and service requirements to achievethe best possible outcomes.
  • To always act as an appropriate role model for Children and Young People.
  • To ensure that children, young people are their parents complete the interventions to which they are subject and that their orders are effectively enforced and managed in line with National Standards at the same time.
  • To ensure that that all files / records are maintained in line with relevant guidelines, including recordings of information.
Requirements of the Role:
  • Enhanced DBS registered onto the update service.
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Health and Social Care working with Children and Young People.
  • Relevant and substantial experience of engaging with challenging young people and families who are engaging in risk taking behaviours and experience of delivering interventions to address these.
  • Experience working with Children, Young People or Adults who are involved in the criminal justice system or Childrens Social Care.
  • Experience of developing and leading packages of multi-agency support.
  • Experience of formal processes within social work.
  • A developed understanding of strategies that address problematic behaviour in Young People.
  • Ability to build engaging and positive relationships with children, young people and families that enable change.
  • Demonstratable track record in building successful and engaging relationships with young people to enable positive change.
