Job Description

Berneslai Homeshas an exciting opportunity for aSite SupervisorGypsy & Traveller Siteto join their team based inBarnsley. You will be working on a part-time (25 hours), permanentbasisand in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,344 to £30,151 (pro rata) + plus benefits.Berneslai Homes are a successful, award winning social housing provider and employer, managing homes on behalf of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Working for us offers you a chance to play a real part in improving homes and communities throughoutBarnsley.The Site SupervisorGypsy & Traveller Siterole:Joining us at a really exciting time as were on an ambitious transformation journey and weve developed a number of new positions to make sure we have the right resources and people to fulfil our vision: Creating great homes and communities with the people of Barnsley.The Site Supervisor will have specific responsibility for the operational management of the Gypsy and Traveller Site, including lettings, assisting in income collection and debt control, adherence to licence regulations and enforcement,caretaking including grass cutting and maintenance and administration. Theyll also work with relevant agencies to facilitate appropriate services being delivered to residents on the site.Key duties and responsibilities of our Site SupervisorGypsy & Traveller Site:

  • Carry out daily inspections of the site providing a pro-active approach to emerging issues, breaches of licence regulations, assessment of environmental condition and security checks
  • Be operationally responsible for the termination of tenancies on the site including checking the pitch; assessing any damage and obtaining quotes for rectifying damage caused
  • As part of the sign up process of new tenants, to welcome new tenants to the site; explain roles and responsibilities; explain use of amenities including cables and meters; provide signposting service for other services including Benefits
  • Assist customers and monitor progress on Benefit applications. To also work closely with relevant agencies to minimise any potential fraudulent claims
  • Provide support to site residents which can include sensitive issues and make links with other providers, (e.g. Health Visitors and Education) to ensure tenants are not excluded from services available
  • Carry out minor maintenance and repair tasks where feasible and to ensure more substantial repairs are processed and actioned
  • Carry out initial investigations into complaints and take appropriate action to resolve. Including ensuring that adequate administrative procedures are in place and complied with
What were looking for in our Site SupervisorGypsy & Traveller Site:
  • 4 GCSE passes (at Grade C or above), OR relevant work experience in this field
  • Experience of Housing Management or working with the Community or working on travellers sites
  • Experience of working with software applications including Microsoft office and bespoke IT Systems
  • Working with the public in confrontational and sensitive situations
