Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group is excited to be working with an FMCG manufacturer based in Barnsley to recruit a Production Manager - Nights.This Production Manager role will support the Head of Production in the day to day running of the department with full responsibility for the Prep department, with a focus on the Safety, Quality, Delivery Cost and People and continuous improvement linkedto SQDCP.Other duties of the Production Manager will include:

  • Manage departmental budgets
  • Organising staff resources ensuring cost effective management in line with managing budgets
  • Conducting regular inspections of machinery, workers and product
  • Urgently addressing key issues such as downtime making sure this is valid and causes are eliminated
  • Using Lean manufacturing techniques to improve productivity, efficiency and quality continuously
  • Communicate with teams utilising visual management, delivering shift briefs, daily achievements, cost and delivery and gathering ideas for improvement
  • Undertaking performance management responsibility for team members, conducting one to ones and giving direction to aid excellent performance
  • Guarantee that safe working practices and standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Challenge all non-conformance and agree and implement countermeasures
  • Lead and motivate the team to create a high performance culture
  • Collaborating with the maintenance team to ensure any breakdowns are reported and acted upon.
  • Oversee that inventory is maintained of all equipment and resources to ensure they are stocked.
  • Promote total preventative maintenance to ensure the availability of machinery
  • Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity and compliance with procedures, operating instructions and work instructions
  • Drive OTIF delivery
  • Lead follow up investigations regarding customer concerns and identify and eliminate the root cause
  • by using robust countermeasures. Sustain the corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues
  • Lead daily shift handover meetings escalating any urgent issues
  • Manage staff training, carrying out regular reviews and arranging cross training
  • Ensure compliance is upheld in Quality, Health and Safety and legislation.
We would like to speak with Production Managers who possess the following:
  • Relevant supervisory experience with an understanding of manufacturing excellence.
  • Previous experience implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques and Continuous Improvement
  • Process manufacturing knowledge
  • Working knowledge of TPM
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong people management skills
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
