We’re looking for nurses who want to spend more time with the children they look after. You’ll be based in a stunning new building,set in a north London .With talented individuals who share our passion to improve the lives of seriously unwell children and their families.About YouYou will be either an experienced Band 5 childrens nurse wanting to take a step upwards, or an experienced Band 6 nurse looking to use your skills in the hospice sector.You will have excellent clinical and communication skills, be creative and want to make a positive difference to the charity.Person SpecificationQUALIFICATIONS1. Registered Sick Children’s Nurse orRegistered Nurse (Child Branch).2. Relevant post-qualificationexperience at staff nurse band 5level.3. Teaching qualification e.g.Mentorship, SSSA or equivalent orwillingness to undertake.4. Experience in supporting studentson placement as a practicesupervisor or practice assessor.SKILLS /KNOWLEDGE /EXPERIENCE1. At least 2 years post registrationexperience, including a minimumof one year’s experience ofnursing children with life limiting,life threatening or complexmedical needs.2. Demonstration of palliative careexperience/nursing children withlife threatening and life limitingconditions, including children withspecial needs.3. Previous teamnursing/management experienceor experience of supportingstudents, junior staff nurses orsupport workers.4. Experience in leading amultiskilled workforce or team orevidence of leadership of amultiskilled workforce/team withsupport from lead nurse.1. Previous experience workingwith children withtracheostomies and/or requiringlong term ventilation.2. Experience with intravenous linecare and therapies includingparenteral nutrition.APTITUDE /SKILLS1. Excellent clinical and mentoringsupport skills.2. Excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills, transferablewithin a range of professional andfamily settings.3. Ability to plan and deliver clinicaltraining opportunities to registeredand non-registered colleagues.4. Ability to critically analyseresearch findings and promoterelevant findings in clinicalpractice.5. Ability to work independently,autonomously and as part of amultidisciplinary team.6. Able to assess, develop,implement, deliver and evaluateprogrammes of care across therange of the hospice setting - inhouse and community.7. Good organisational, planningand time management skills andability to adapt and reprioritise atshort notice based on theimmediate needs of our youngpeople and their families.8.
