Job Description

Head of Voice & Influence (UK wide) About us: Barnardos has an ambitious ten year Corporate strategy which will result in better outcomes for the UKs most vulnerable children and young people. Were seeking an individual who is passionate and committed to empowering young people and helping them to make sure their voices are heard in a way that feels safe to them; in a way that helps them feel stronger and more able to recover when they face challenges in their lives. You will take on an active thought-leadership role, refreshing and further developing our voice and influence strategy, whilst at the same time listening and seeking to understand the needs of young people through active dialogue. This will foster an understanding which will enable you to represent the needs of young people and ensure that Barnardos becomes a leader in the application of best practice in voice and influence within the sector and beyond.About the role:This is an exciting new leadership role which will develop and deliver Barnardos approach to championing the voice and influence of children and young people and put them in the lead. In these unprecedented times, this is rare opportunity time to join the UKs biggest childrens charity in a role that offers you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of young people. This includes: ensuring that we have a best in class Corporate UK Strategy for Voice and Influence; working with strategic partners such as local authorities, government; other voluntary and partnership organisations; professional associations and organisations; local community groups and, crucially, with young people themselves.In the role you will:

  • Advise the Corporate Leadership Team, Directors and managers to enable them to effectively carry out their accountability for Voice & Influence across the organisation.
  • Further develop the Corporate UK Voice and Influence Strategy and ensure its implementation under the guidance of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and the Lead Director of Childrens Services
  • Support managers at all levels across the organisation by providing professional advice to promote the best Voice and Influence participatory practice.
  • Lead on the development and co-ordination of effective Voice and Influence learning and development across the organisation;
  • Develop and maintain an external focus to the role to ensure that Barnardos is able to influence and be a key sector lead for Voice and Influence
  • This role has a national remit, although its primarily home based, you will be required to travel regularly to Barkingside, (Essex) and Central London.
