Job Description

Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.What you will be doingWe are currently recruiting for a Process Controller to join our Waste Treatment Business. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of Beckton Sewage Treatment Works. This is done by using SCADA and respondingto specific situations to ensure the relevant processes are brought under control or escalated to an event.Also, at times, you will be the responsible person on-site and will direct the Process Technicians to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with standards.Main Responsibilities

  • Being responsible for the overall operation of the Sewage Treatment Works, the plant, and equipment
  • Monitoring, collating and reporting data to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met, and the site meets regulatory quality standards and customer demand
  • Processing faults and advise suitable rectification by first fix, raising issues to the Maintenance Scheduler or Team Leader as required
  • Assisting with on-site capital project works, co-ordinate maintenance and operational personnel raising reactive work when required
  • Regularly collect water samples from around the site and complete basic laboratory analysis on them
  • Monitoring stock levels and requesting and taking deliveries as required
  • Undertaking safety and security checks and taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues
  • Operating and monitoring the processes from the Control room using SCADA, and where necessary, go into the process area to carry out operations and when required, inspect the process area
  • Undergo training in safety procedures including confined space entry
Were looking for you to have
  • Process experience within wastewater process and the ability to coordinate & prioritise work
  • Qualification in a technical discipline would be advantageous as well as being an Appointed Person for HV (electrical work)
  • The ability to work unsupervised and be prepared to work both day shift and/or operate on a 12-hour continental shift pattern (where cover is required)
  • Prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry
  • Significant experience in a relevant industry and with experience of managing or controlling the relevant processes or networks
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and Office software
  • Previous experience of SCADA systems
