Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highways Inspector to join a public sector organisation based in East London.The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification (e.g. NRSWA accreditation) and knowledge of the regulatory and policy framework relating to Highways.Key duties will include:

  • Undertake programmed and adhoc safety inspections to identify any defects that require repair and ensuring that the highways and footways network had been adequately maintained
  • Raise orders for reactive remedial work, monitor progress and check invoiced work is in accordance with that ordered and has been completed to specification
  • Highway licences - administering licences for temporary obstructions such as Hoarding, scaffolding, cranes, etc
  • Footway crossings - support the footway crossing (also known as dropped kerbs) permissions scheme. Assess allocated applications and recommend approval or rejection. Supply estimate for cost of construction.
  • S50 licences - support the street works team in assessing and monitoring licences issued in accordance with section 50 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
  • Streetwork Permits - support the street works team in administering the London Permits Scheme
