Job Description

Mental Health Practitioner (Band 6)–£35,392-£42,618– Hamilton, LeicesterThe RoleAre you an experienced Mental Health Practitioner, with an interest or experience in the criminal justice system looking for the next chapter in your career If so, we have a new opportunity for you.Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust are currently recruiting for a skilled Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service.The service operates from police custody and court, which directly engages and supports vulnerable people going through the criminal justice system.The successful candidate will be working with both adults and young people, within what is a very interesting and rewarding area of care that is continuing to develop. As a front-line service, each day can be different in what can be a busy and unpredictableenvironment.As a Mental Health Practitioner, the post holder will have clinical responsibilities across the service and be able to supervise junior staff.Key Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will be expected to adopt the policies and philosophy of LPT.
  • Promote independence, foster a learning culture, enhance the autonomy of the service user, and ensure high quality, compassionate, person-centred care.
  • Clinically and professionally provide line management and supervision to junior team members.
  • Contribute to supporting other team members.
  • Ensure evidence-based practice is delivered to continually improve the quality of the responsive services.
  • Be responsible for performing comprehensive service user assessments, in addition to planning, implementing and evaluating individualised high-quality care.
  • Be required to work collaboratively and clinically within a multi-agency team and contribute to the provision and development of an effective service in line with legislative, procedural, and contractual requirements.
  • Will work within different services and pathways within criminal justice, to ensure all criminal justice service users gain the assessment, support and care required.

  • Full current UK Professional Registration (Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker). A relevant degree or diploma with current professional registration.
  • Demonstrates skills in using electronic patient records.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide safe, good quality care.
  • Effectively communicates with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates good initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Able to problem solve and prioritise own and other’s work.

  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility dependent upon work priorities.
