At Eastwood Park Prison our substance misuse team is an integral department within Inspire Better Health. The consortium comprises of AWP, Bristol Community Health, and Hanham Health.If you are a friendly, compassionate and empathetic individual, who would like to work with vulnerable and chaotic individuals in a recovery focused model, then you may well be extremely suited to one of our group work positions.The treatment of drug and alcohol is both a fascinating and rewarding health priority; and as our vacancies are Band 3 positions they pose a fantastic entry level opportunity for those interested in substance misuse as a career. With opportunities for specialised training such as the RCGP level 1 in substance misuse.The successful applicants will be situated on our busy detox unit. Working along-side an experienced team of professionals such as doctors, nurses, and substance misuse workers; you will provide drug and alcohol awareness groups, working to a harm minimisation agenda. With support from senior colleagues, you will learn how to offer Mutual Aid Groups (SMART and 12 Steps), as well as psychosocial groups; educational workshops; reflection and mindfulness; along with mind-mapping activities and in-cell work.The prison houses up to 442 women. In addition to the specialist unit for substance misuse, the prison offers a Drug Recovery Community, mother and baby unit; mental health service; health care clinic; and specialist therapies unit. The role offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about a variety of substance misuse treatment models, as the post holder with be involved in liaison with a wide range of external and internal agencies.Employees at the prison enjoy access to a recently refurbished top level gym, café, multi-faith and chapel facilities, as well as free car parking. Eastwood Park is a vibrant community with regular open-days, workshops, and staff meetings for all professionals.Staff are offered a wide range of in-house prison and health training opportunities as well as access to a variety of academic course affiliated with the University West England via the AWP learning and development department, some of which lead to professional qualifications in Nursing and other allied health care roles. Not to mention the longer term pension and leave benefits of working in the NHS.Despite its country location, and tranquil atmosphere, Eastwood Park is in close proximity to the cities of Bath, Bristol, and Gloucester. Also nearby are historic castles such as Berkley and Thornbury; whilst nesting in the beautiful local countryside are natural attractions such as Slimbridge, the Severn; and a splendid arboretum at Tortworth.
