Job Description

Mechanically biased Maintenance Technician required in Aylesford, near Maidstone, Kent.4 on 4 off shifts (6-6) + call out. £36K - £40K Negotiable + Benefits.Our client is a market leader in environmental waste management, serving customers across the UK.These newly created roles at one of their Kent facilities will ensure day to day Maintenance activities within the plant to keep downtime to a minimum using preventive and reactive maintenance procedures in line with planned maintenance schedules. Processmachinery includes Boilers, Conveyors, Shredders, Sterilisation equipment, Facilities etc.Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Hydraulics / Pneumatics maintenance / fault finding
  • Working Knowledge of Steam systems / Boilers
  • PLC Controls
  • Welding MMA/MIG
  • Oxy/propane cutting
  • Electrical fault finding experience (desirable)
  • 16th/17th Edition Electrical Qualification (desirable)
  • FLT Licence (desirable)
  • Heavy Industrial plant Experience
  • A willingness to develop in the role
Responsibilities to include:
  • Contribute to the forward planning of shut down and capital works
  • Planned and breakdown maintenance at the plant prioritising works utilising the onsite defect reporting system and in agreement with the Plant Manager
  • Provide first line breakdown / defect repairs, acting immediately and effectively to minimise the loss of plant availability
  • Closely monitor the safe running of the plant and report any engineering concerns
  • Inspect, co-ordinate and maintain the plant maintenance documentation in conjunction with the Plant Manager
  • Prepare and co-ordinate the inspection, and effect repairs if required to all statutory and non-statutory testing actions required to plant and equipment in conjunction with the manager
  • Out of hours engineering cover, providing frontline maintenance support both communicably and physically when required (rota to be confirmed)
  • Work on continuous improvement projects
