Senior Yard Manager

Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, flexible and efficient Senior Yard Manager with experience of teaching pupils between four and eighteen years to join their experienced and well established team.Candidates will preferably hold the BHSII/ Stage 4 Completebut we will consider Experienced BHSAI/Stage 3 Complete.The successful candidate must have experience of working on a professional yard and the ability to teach a wide range of stable management skills to children, including training students for BHS examinations.Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. Some evenings and weekend work will be required.Main Responsibilities

• Teach and train a variety of pupils in equitation, equine theory and practical topics.

• Be responsible for overall supervision and development of the. Grooms/Junior staff

• Develop the team work of staff and pupils to develop the yard to a centre of excellence, assisting with yard work (mucking out, sweeping, bringing in/turning out, tacking up etc) when necessary.

• Be responsible for health and welfare of horses, staff and students on the yard.

• Implement the daily care and well-being of all the horses, including routine treatments and exercise.

• Guide the staff and pupils to achieve high standards in all aspects of their work.

• Maintain standards as required by the Director, in all aspects of appearance, teaching quality and all aspects of yard management.

• Cover for other members of staff when necessary.

• Evening and Weekend work will also be necessary on a rota, either on site or accompanying pupils to competitions. There will also be a requirement to assist with events such as competitions and Open Mornings.

• Be responsible for the equipment on the yard, including repairs, storage, cleanliness and accountability of equipment.

Hours of Work 40 hrs over a 5 day week, on a rota system within the working hours detailed below, the working hours will include a weekly weekend duty during term-time:

• MondaysFridays 0630-1500 / 1000-1830
• 8.30am - 5pm Saturdays or Sundays
• At certain times it may be necessary for hours to be flexible.
