Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of Ashford Borough Council for an Assessment and Resettlement Officer to assist with the successful delivery and implementation of the Ashford Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy.You will be required to provide support and assistance to single homelessness people and rough sleepers to get them off the street and to enable and empower them to live in their own homes.This will be a busy role and will include some of the following duties;

  • Work intensively with entrenched rough sleepers, working closely with voluntary and statutory sector providers in finding solutions.
  • Form partnerships with internal and external colleagues such as social services, occupational therapists, education services, support workers and medical professionals.
  • Engage identified rough sleepers through early and late stage outreach sessions.
  • Assess the housing and resettlement needs of each client and then supporting them with their needs.
  • Support clients to create and sustain a home through housing support with areas such as budgeting, debt management, education and employment.
You must have at least 2 years experience working with entrenched rough sleepers or people with high support needs as well as experience of working with support plans and taking an holistic approach to clients. Also a qualification in one of the followingareas would be an advantage; Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Safeguarding or Trauma Informed Care.You will be working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. The hours are flexible and you will be expected to cover outreach work so some early morning shifts are required. Paying £14.83 per hour initially rising to £15.96 after 12 weeks.This is a temporary role until March 2024.The role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.New Appointments Group, Expertly Matching Employers and Jobseekers since 1975.
