Controls EngineerPower Management SystemsLeicesterPermanent PositionSalary - £40,000 to £55,000Design of software for generator and power system control and monitoring systems.Work to high standards of software quality control including use of GitLab and other revision control softwarePreparation and review of technical specifications and applications engineering for control system projects.Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards and programming.Develops hardware and software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.Provision of technical support to customers and to Internal sales, panel assembly, testing, commissioning functions.Participate in cross-functional activities such as customer meetings, quality improvements, product, and project review.Support sales and service personnel by occasionally working on sites in the UK, offshore and overseas when required.Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professionalorganisations.Accomplishes engineering objectives as part of continuous professional development and departmental objectives.Partake in the continuous improvement and development of Internal Controls products.All employees have a legal duty to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work and to observe and follow the relevant systems, rules, and methods of working.Be flexible in working times as dictated by workload and non-planned events.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLSQualifications or Functional ExperienceBachelors degree in Software, Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering, Computer Science, or similar related subject. or relevant experience.Proven experience as a Software Engineer within power, industrial, or automation sectors.Excellent written and oral skillsKnowledge/SkillsKnowledge of software-based microsystems / control and communication systems including Modbus, Ethernet and IEC61850A high level of competency in C, C++ for QNX, embedded Linux and Windows.Working to high standards of software quality control including use of GitLab and other revision control software.Processing and Spreadsheet manipulation.Good knowledge of WPF, C#, and .netAbility to interpret electrical power system and switchgear componentsCreate technical and functional design specificationIT Literacy and proficiency in the use of MS Office Packages.For more information please contact Kieran Duggan at Matchtech Recruitment on or apply now to submit your CV.
