Job Description

Production Planning LeadLocation: Altrincham (WA14)Employment type: PermanentStart Date: ASAPSalary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + BenefitsOur Client, a leading mobile network infrastructure operator across Europe are seeking a talented Production Planning Lead to join their team working from their office in Altrincham. This role will primarily involve leading virtual/cross functional teams from across the Clients Customer Infrastructure Programmes to develop a functional Production Planning Process and regime.Alongside the above you will also be responsible for:

  • Operation of the PPP to ensure instructions made are aligned to supplier capacity
  • Improving customer outcomes via continual improvement and evolution of the PPP
  • Development of a new production planning regime which controls production requests across programme teams
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate view of:
  • Supplier capacity by Workstage
  • Forecast customer demand in the near term (i.e. next 3 months)
  • Forecast customer demand in the medium term (i.e. next 12 months)
  • Controlling release of work to suppliers in a manner which ensures:
  • High levels of supplier utilisation
  • WIP that is within target limits
  • Customer requirements & priorities are met
  • Advising when supplier capacity is not capable of satisfying customer demand, with involvement in remedial activity to address this
  • Working with the supplier performance management function to improve customer outcomes
  • The successful Production Planning Lead will need to establish:
  • Monthly demand and production planning process to be set up which ensures that the production plan agreed with the suppliers can be achieved and that all parties are working to this plan.
  • Demand planning to be formalised and outputs to be shared with all stakeholders on a monthly basis
  • Template to capture the demand plans and production plans will need to be formulated. There are existing templates but these will need some changes
  • The mechanisms / rules to be established as to how the demand gets issued to the suppliers to ensure that we do not overload them but at the same time meet their requirement to achieve sufficient through-put
  • The toolset required to support the process, working closely with CIP PMO to build
  • Once the function has been set up, the responsibility will be to manage instruction flow across the CIP (Customer Infrastructure Programme) organisation on a daily basis to keep work in progress to acceptable levels and thus minimise cycle times
  • Accountable for obtaining and updating a longer term (e.g. 12 - 18 month view) of customer requirements and suppliers capability via work with programme and account teams and leads within suppliers, then understand the delta, propose corrective action and support execution of this
  • Lead the CIP organisation around best practice in how to manage production to maximise throughput
  • Identify improvement opportunities in the supply chain and champion projects to deliver improvements
  • Experience and Skills required:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in supply chain management and production planning for a B2B organisation
  • Experience of production planning in Telecoms, FMCG or construction sectors
  • Development of PPP (as opposed to just operating one)
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Proficiency with IT software packages such as ERP/Workflow Systems such as KEEP
  • Intermediate knowledge of Project Management Tools such as MS Project
