Skilled Train MaintainerSalary: £32,835 per annum rising to £43,780 per annum35 hoursAbout the role: *Carry out maintenance, servicing, fault finding, repair and overhaul of all traction and rolling stock, components and equipment to approved standards as laid down in the vehicle maintenance instructions, technical specifications and related working procedures.*Carry out repairs and renewals to depot facilities, utilities, plant and equipment.*Multi skilled role, requires strong electrical and mechanical skills.*Minimum qualification NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline.*Requires work as part of a team and also as an individual to achieve work load. *Salary at 75% during training phase of role.About you:*Work to the instruction of the Engineering Depot Supervisor (EDS), undertake and work as required subject to competence. *Liaise with EDS to determine workload priorities and advise of any difficulties encountered. *Servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repair and overhaul of traction and rolling stock and equipment to required specifications and standards as allocated by the EDS.*Sign off all work done correctly and accurately where required on specified documentation and/or within data collection systems,*Attend track calls as required/directed if competent.*Ensure that all appropriate procedures and work instructions are carried out in accordance with documented systems.*Carry out all safety procedures in accordance with statutory and local requirements. Carry out depot facility and utility repairs/renewals as required/directed.*Obtain and maintain competence to undertake to undertake depot train movements as required. *Keep place of work clean and tidy at all times.*Application of mechanical, electrical, vehicle building and plumbing principles and skills.*Obtaining, using, caring for and returning all instruments, tools and equipment from storage locations. *Obtain materials from stores/storage to enable work to be carried out and return of all used spares/parts.*Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with proficiency certification in pace, to include fork trucks and the depot wheel lathe as required.*Adhere to working instructions and safety, environmental and quality procedures in place. *Assist other team members and teams as required/directed. *Undertake lower graded work where competent to facilitate completion of required workload.*Undertake on the job guidance and mentoring of apprentices, trainees and new starters.*Patch painting and associated surface preparation where competent.*Undertake welding, brazing and burning duties where competent.*Undertake air conditioning maintenance where competent.*Undertake safety critical work regulations assessment under the guidance of the EDS, taking remedial action where necessary.
