Job Description

Our client is highly respected in their industry for quality service and reliability with their productAre currently looking to recruit a mechanical design stress engineer.Salary £45-55k D.O.EList of key responsibilities:

  • Undertake mechanical engineering activities as required for studies, projects and consultancy.
  • Collaborate as part of the mechanical engineering team.
  • Ensure safe and robust value engineered mechanical design for all products and process packages
  • List of activities
  • Perform pressure vessel design evaluation to PD5500, ASME VIII Div 1, EN13445 and TEMA.
  • Conduct pipe stress engineering of piping systems as per ASME B31.3 and EN13480 code.
  • Perform evaluation of nozzle loads or vessels stress utilizing WRC 107/297 and PD5500 Annex G.
  • Perform detailed stress analysis using ‘Design by Analysis’ approach and produce report using FEA with AutoDesk NASTRAN software and ASME VIII-2 part 5.
  • Develop engineering computations and evaluations.
  • Conduct complex engineering tasks along with key engineering work appropriately and efficiently.
  • Present comprehensive mechanical design calculations and documentation to illustrate safe and robust mechanical design of all products and process packages.
  • Coordinate design of pipe supports, and skid frames as needed.
  • Interact frequently with various engineering disciplines and departments.
  • Guide technically CAD designer and engineers.
  • Perform as advisory facility to senior management staff on mechanical engineering pertinent matters.
  • Support the Mechanical Design Assurance Manager.
  • Role requirements:
  • Accredited mechanical engineering degree, ideally MEng/ MSc, alternatively BEng/ BSc or Chartered Engineer status with a sound understanding of engineering principles.
  • Proven post-graduate work experience, in a mechanical static equipment and process package development role would be preferred. Minimum 5 years relevant experience, 10+ years preferable.
  • Capable of 3D modelling & 2D drawing with CAD software such as Solid Edge, Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Capable of Drafting and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Capable of Finite Element Analysis using Elastic and fatigue analysis approach using ASME VIII-2 pt5.
  • Experience in producing design calculations using CAESAR II, PVElite, Finglow & Mathcad.
  • Experience with relevant products, Process Equipment and package design and industry knowledge (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power…)
  • Attention to detail and the ability to build good relationships
  • Innovative mind, and focused on deadlines and targets
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to a broad range of construction materials
  • Able to use MS office, Mathcad 15 or Prime software
