JOB TITLE: Chef / CookStart Date: ASAP, dependant on receipt of references and DBS checkREPORTS TO: Catering ManagerHOURS: 30 hours per week | Monday to Friday, term time only, 8am to 2pm | 190 days p.a.PAY: NJC Band C: Point 5 | £14,660 p.a. As well as our focus on academic achievement, we are committed to enhancing enjoyment and interest in learning in thebroadest sense, with a real focus on developing individual talents.ApplicationsMUST be submitted through the MyNewTerm link via the Alcester Grammar School website (CVs and direct online applications will not be considered for shortlisting).We are looking to appoint an experienced Chef / Cook, or a well-qualified and experienced Catering Assistant looking to take their first step into a position of management.Reporting to the Catering Manager, we are looking for a Chef / Cook who will achieve excellence in the service of food, hygiene, and safety for all our customers (students, staff and visitors) and who will deliver the required service efficiently and economically.Responsibilities will include the preparation and cooking of all meals to the required standards as set down by the Catering Manager, to maintain hygiene and cleaning standards on a daily basis ensuring safe practices are maintained within food storage,food preparation and food disposal. The Chef / Cook will participate in menu planning, and costings, the collating of recipes and document methods, including allergen control and labelling. You will advise, mentor and monitor the Catering Assistants in effective/ efficient food preparation, ensuring that they adhere to all policies, especially Food, Safety and Hygiene regulations. The Chef / Cook will also participate in stock control and stock taking.You will be involved in quality deliverance, and participate in standard setting, help to operate, develop and implement monitoring systems, and maintain excellent customer service for pupils, staff and visitors to the School. You will ensure that all purchasedgoods are checked at delivery and any defective goods are returned as appropriate.Candidates must be aware of and follow Health and Safety at work regulations, Food Safety and COSHH guidelines., and be willing to participate in, any training or demonstration sessions to develop their skills or knowledge as appropriate, as requested bythe Catering Manager.
