Job Description

Are you an experienced Section Manager with a proven track record in people management Do you have experience working within a FMCG environment Do you thrive working in a fast paced manufacturing operation We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Manager to join our production team in Abergavenny.It is vital the food industry continues operating throughout these uncertain times, and as one of the UK’s largest food businesses we have a key part to play in this to help continue to feed the nation.We are a leading supplier of Poultry products into an impressive range of customers in the UK retail and food service sectors. With ambitious plans for the future, there hasn’t been a more exciting time to join us.Join us as a Section Manager on the PM shift at Abergavenny and you can be a part of the ambitious team that brings Avara Foods to life.Hours: Tuesday – Thursday 1400 – 2300; Friday 1200 – 2100 and Saturday 0730 – 1630Purpose of the role:As a Section Manager you will be responsible for managing all operational production staff to drive and produce quality products, on time and to customer requirements and specification within agreed cost standards.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating all operational shift personnel, to produce quality products to schedule, whilst maintaining a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation with maximum utilization of resources
  • Maximisingimprovement opportunities in all areas of control, through continual review of operations and by instigating improvements where necessary and drive through any changes
  • Liaising with HR department to select and develop operational personnel and to ensure that a developmental programme is in place to train and motivate individuals to achieve performance and quality targets.
  • Target setting; ensure measurement, monitoring and management of production performance
  • Reviewing results from the shift and report back to appropriate management team
  • Ensuring employee and product safety always, ensuring full training is given according to task procedures and individual needs
  • Maintaining adherence to Avara Foods safety and hygiene standards
  • Assisting the Production Manager with budgets associated to your area of control and to adhere to this budget, driving cost saving ideas where appropriate
  • Ensuring all Company policies, standards, processes are met and adhered to by all personnel on shift.
  • What we are looking for:
  • Manufacturing experience within a FMCG industry (preferably within the food processing industry) with production experience at management level.
  • Strong Management experience
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data to give meaningful reports and actions
  • Excellent communications skills
