NHS Grampian invites enthusiastic applicants for a Consultant in General Paediatrics, based between Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin. The successful applicant will contribute to the Consultant out-of-hours rota for Medical Paediatrics within Dr Gray’s Hospital and undertake COW as well as general paediatric clinic. Interest within Paediatric sub-specialities would be supported.The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has a total of 93 beds, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient care in Medical Paediatrics and its sub-specialities, General Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Orthodontics, Ophthalmology, Clinical Genetics and Child and Family Psychiatry. The Department of Community Child Health and a purpose built Child Protection suite are located within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. RACH has its own Accident and Emergency Department under direct Consultant supervision. There are approximately 8000 attendances annually of which two thirds are acute admissions. The Paediatric service is delivered by a total of 22 Medical & Surgical Consultants, 10 Associate Specialists, two Speciality Doctors and 15 RCPCH trainees.Dr Gray’s Hospital is located in the Cathedral city of Elgin, which has a population of 23,000 within the county of Moray (total population 96,000). It is set in an area of outstanding beauty with a milder climate than other parts of the North-East coast. There are regular railway services to Aberdeen and Inverness.
