Job Description

Title: Lecturer in Rural Business ManagementType:

  • ANF/RLU/043/22: Permanent, Full-Time
  • ANF/RLU/044/22: Fixed Term (1 Year), Part-Time

Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.This post will contribute to the delivery of subjects that form part of the Rural Business Management curricula, as well as to programmes in Agriculture. We are particularly interested in candidates with an ability to teach a variety of business managementsubjects. The candidate should enjoy the challenge of teaching business subjects to students from other cohorts, e.g., agriculture and wildlife & countryside, in addition to rural business management students.Teaching:
  • Teaching and supporting HN and UG students, supervising projects and dissertations.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of teaching activity of high quality, reputation, and impact.
  • Continually developing approaches to teaching and learning which are innovative in the subject area and reflect best practice.
  • Participating actively in the development of subject based pedagogy and teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
  • Involvement in continuing professional development in relation to teaching and, where appropriate, related professional practices.
  • Contributing to the development of curriculum to embrace industry need.
  • Contributing to the development, application, and maintenance of academic standards in a defined area of work to advance student academic development.
Research / Industry Links / Knowledge Exchange:
  • Establish/maintain a developing research trajectory that complements existing work within the RLU department and across SRUC.
  • Supervise students engaged on post-graduate courses.
  • Lead and/or contribute to funding bids and related activities, including Knowledge Exchange, which develop and sustain support for the subject area and recognised excellence for the institution.
  • Actively contribute to the subject specialism through engaging with RICS and other learned societies and professional bodies.
There are currently 2 positions available:
  • 1 x Permanent, Full-Time
  • 1 x Fixed Term (1 Year), Part-Time (22.5 hours per week)
