Job Description

Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.SRUC’s School of Veterinary Medicine is the first new School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland for 150 years.Our vision for the SRUC School of Veterinary Medicine is to provide a sustainable, resilient foundation for clinical excellence to support the animals and communities at the heart of Scotland’s Natural Economy.We are looking to appoint either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Equine Studies. The role will require the successful candidate to:• Be an active and engaged member of the Equine Team, taking a leadership role as required• Have a student-focussed approach to teaching and learning and be able to engage young people in a learning environment• Prepare and deliver teaching and learning materials for classroom face-to-face, virtual online teaching and practical sessions as required for a range of modules within the HND Equine Studies framework• Liaise with the teaching team, including staff at Aberdeen Riding Club who are delivering some of the practical aspects of the course, to ensure teaching delivery meets a high standard and is in line with the aims of the overall programme and student experience• Conduct student assessments in accordance with Awarding Body standards.• Maintain appropriate records of teaching and assessment• Maintain appropriate records of attendance• Attend internal and external meetings as required• Incorporate subject and pedagogic within teaching as part of an integrated approach to high quality academic practice• Actively engage in SRUC’s quality enhancement and communication strategies and their associated procedures• Actively engage in SRUC’s performance management processes• Develop and maintain links with relevant industry contacts in their curriculum areaFurther details on the requirements of this role can be found in the Job Particulars document which you must read before applying for this role.Please note the appointment will be made as either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.
