Job Description

Our client, a public sector body, see a temporary lab technician to assist in in basic laboratory operations.This role is based in Aberdeen and will last until 31st January 2023.The role pays £10.87 per hour based on a 37 hour working week.Main duties:

  • Equipment calibration checks on thermometers, pipettes, fridges, freezers and heating blocks following organisation procedures.
  • Organising the stock of chemicals and certified reference materials.
  • Organising the storage and disposal of formal samples.
  • Receiving deliveries of samples into the laboratory.
  • Entering data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Carrying out a range of cleaning activities on laboratory glassware/bottles.
  • Following health and safety procedures and ensuring working safely.
  • Preparing chemical solutions and assisting with preparation for analysis (including filtration and sample preservation)
  • Performing simple analytical techniques under supervision
Essential skills:
  • Good organisational skills and time management.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to plan workload to meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach to work
  • An ability to follow and understand written procedures
  • Computer Literacy and familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory working practice including safe working.
  • Driving licence
