Job Description

Vetro Education are seeking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work full time, in a SEN School in Aberdare. The successful Teaching Assistant will be working on a 1-2-1 basis with an learner with social and emotional behavioural difficulties(SEBD) to assist with their day-to-day participation in classes.The role will be for 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) and to start in December 2023. Initially, this role is set to run until the end of the Easter term in the first instance with a view to returning in for the duration of the summer term.Due to the age of the pupil, this role could continue beyond 2023-2024 academic year. As a Welsh Government framework staffing provider, Vetro Education will give you the opportunity to work in Primary, Secondary and SEN schools as well as numerous privately run education provisions across Wales. Overview:

  • Title: SEBD Teaching Assistant
  • Pay: £75.90 per day minimum
  • Location: Aberdare
  • Hours: 5 days per week, Monday to Friday 830am - 330pm

The role: What youll be doing as a SEBD Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting and supervising a learner with SEBD on a 1-2-1 basis
  • Assisting the learner at the start of the school day and when leaving at the end of the day
  • Assisting staff members in preparing the classroom for a lesson
  • Support the class teacher in the delivery of the lessons
  • Assist the learner at break time with their lunch
  • Engage the learner with both classroom and out of classroom activities
  • Work in accordance to the schools behaviour management policies
The candidate: What youll need to be successful as a SEBD Teaching Assistant
  • At least 3 months experience of working with children in schools, nurseries or childcare settings - experience within an SEBD setting would be beneficial
  • Registration with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
  • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
