Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to take up a full time role in a Special School in Aberdare. We are looking for a Food Technology Teacher who is experienced in the delivery of Food Technology to GCSE and A levellearners and has experience in an SEN environment.The needs of the learners are varied and experience with ASD would be extremely beneficial. The school itself has fantastic facilities and a supportive and welcoming cohort of staff. As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be part of the schools core teamand can demonstrate the ability to teach KS3, 4 and 5. You will be fully committed to achieving the highest standards of teaching and learning for all learners.

  • Title: Food Technology Teacher
  • Start date - 6th November 2023
  • Pay: £157.66 per day minimum
  • Location: Aberdare, RCT
  • Hours: Full time, long-term, 5 days per week - Monday to Friday 830am - 330pm

Key Requirements of a Food Technology Teacher:
  • Be a fully qualified Teacher of DT (QTS or equivalent overseas qualification)
  • Specialise in Food Technology
  • Have at least 1-year teaching experience, exceptions to be made for NQTs
  • Be happy to cover subjects outside of your subject specialism
  • Hold a fully enhanced DBS (on the Update service) - ability to obtain a new one
  • Have references covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Hold EWC registration
  • Hold the Right to work in the UK
About the role of a Food Technology Teacher will:
  • Teaching DT Food Tech to KS3, 4 and 5 within an SEN environment
  • Planning, Preparing and delivering lessons
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge
  • Classroom Management
  • Using various teaching methods to engage pupils
  • Monitoring pupils progress
  • Encourage student participation in lessons
  • Covering other lessons or subjects when needed
  • Reporting back to the head of department with any feedback or issues
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the curriculum.
  • Liaise with other Teachers and Teaching Assistants within the school.
