Job Title: Facilities & Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Nantgarw, CardiffSalary: Dependent on Experience + Bonus + Substantial BenefitsJob Type: Full Time, permanentHours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm (with some flexibility to meet operational needs)Closing date: 9:30am 4th July 2022Do you want to be part of a long-established, successful company Due to expansion of our state-of-the-art enzyme manufacturing facility, we have an opportunity for a Facilities & Maintenance Technician who will have a vital support role within our highlymotivated Operations Team.Biocatalysts develop and manufacture speciality enzymes from small to large scale quantities for a variety of industries such as food, flavor, fragrance, life science, pharma and fine chemicals. We are the only company offering a rapid, low-cost specialityenzyme service from discovery phase through to global shipment of regulatory compliant enzymes.About the role:Working within our close-knit maintenance team, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has recently completed their engineering apprenticeship and is looking to develop their skills and knowledge within a specialist manufacturing operation.The purpose of the role is to perform general maintenance and repair of the site equipment, facilities and grounds. The role will also involve recording and monitoring duties of the production and facilities equipment, as well as general administrative dutiesfor the Maintenance Team.In your role, you will be responsible for providing all-round support to the Maintenance Team - helping to maintain and repair the sites equipment, building, office facilities and grounds.Need to be able to do: (Key activities):

  • Planning and scheduling planned and unplanned maintenance work
  • Supporting the Maintenance team with maintenance and facilities service and repairs
  • Carrying out quality inspections on maintenance tasks and equipment
  • Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
  • Inventory management of small parts stores systems and tools
  • Ordering parts and requesting PO numbers
  • Dealing with emergency and unplanned problems and repairs
  • Maintenance on water systems
  • Liaising with service and maintenance contractors
  • Ensure all contractors and visitors follow relevant safety procedures
  • Ensure all contractors information is reviewed and permits to work are issued prior to work being carried out
  • Site facilities and grounds management (Cefn Coed) - e.g. gardening / painting & decorating etc.
  • Carry out the responsibilities stated in the Managing Directors Environmental, Health & Safety Policy and associated documents
About you:
  • To be successful in this role, you will need to be flexible, practical, hands-on; as well as being focused on detail, quality, safety, and reliability.
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or completion of an Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in mechanical is essential.
  • Having at least 1 years experience of working within a maintenance role, including using general workshop equipment, is desirable but not essential. This will have preferably been within a manufacturing setting, but we will consider applicants from allsectors.
  • Good IT skills will also be a distinct advantage.
