Job Description

Lead Data Engineer£87,000Manchester/Hybrid workingMy client is one of the largest financial services organisations in the UK, is looking for an experienced data engineer to play a vital role in their migration process. Youll be delivering projects from the business requirements collecting phase throughto Live Implementation; be involved in ground-breaking activities as we migrate processing into a multi-cloud target using Cloud solutions both within the IBM Cloud Pak4 Data Environment and more widely into other Cloud providers such as Azure and Google.Heres where youll make a difference:

  • Driving down the total cost of ownership of our products and driving agile adoption as part of the broader engineering community
  • Setting the vision for the team, for all engineers in your area.
  • Collaborating and building relationships with teams across the UK and India.
Experience in following areas: Required
  • Proven technical leadership, setting direction, vision, and strategy for team
  • Technical know-how and hands on experience of ETL Tooling and Streaming and how they fit with cloud technologies
  • Experience delivering data engineering solutions
  • Understanding and experience of Mainframe, with scheduling capability
  • Knowledge of containerisation such as: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of microservices/service mesh,
  • Cloud experience, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Spark, Apache Storm or similar
  • Experience with databases such as Teradata, Oracle, Hadoop, DB2 and familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and HBase.
  • Have real passion for coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers.
