Job Title: Radiology Department Assistant - in CannulatingGrade: Band 3Trust: Manchester University NHS Foundation TrustLocation: Wythenshawe Hospital, Southmoor Rd, Manchester, M23 9LTWard/Dept: MRI - RadiologyHours: 37.5 hours per week, 3 long days 8am - 8pmPay Rate: £11.01 - £20.15 P/HWould you like to be part of an outstanding organisation, proud to have some of the highest patient and staff satisfaction ratesAre you an experienced, caring, and compassionate Radiography Assistant looking to kickstart your career within the NHSThis is an excellent opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible Assistant Radiographers to join the team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, for a 4-month period. This role will mainly include cannulating.Manchester University is an NHS Acute Foundation Trust which operates 10 hospitals throughout Greater Manchester. It is the largest NHS trust in the UK, with 21,945 members of staff.The Radiology Department Assistant works as part of the Radiology team, providing an efficient, high quality and patient focussed imaging service, The support worker will be expected to liaise and care for patients in a professional manner and will be expected,over time, to develop skills and experience across multiple imaging modalities. You will aid qualified staff before, during and after imaging examinations undertaken in the department and give the necessary direct care as required to the patient throughouttheir experience.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring accuracy of entries onto the RIS (Radiology Information System) and performing any other clerical duties as required
  • Cannulating patients
  • Updating patient records on RIS and enter all relevant data to construct a worklist
  • Ensuring MRI safety is observed at all times
  • Completing all paperwork pertaining to compliance with Trust policies e.g. incident forms if necessary
  • Assisting with lung, liver, and kidney biopsies. Also assist with drainages and minor biopsies
  • Preparation and clearance of sterile trolleys for interventional procedures
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:NVQ Level 3 or equivalent previous clinical experience; experience of working within a team and independently with and without support, and experience cannulating patients.
