Job Description

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per weekContract: Permanent, Full TimeSalary: £30,000 per annumLocation: Worksop College, S80 3APAbout Worksop College and Ranby House:Set in 400 acres of North Nottinghamshire woodland, Worksop College and Ranby House offer a secure and rural environment with easy access to major cities. The scenic Peaks, Dales, and Borders are within easy reach, providing ample opportunities for personal enjoyment.The Role:The primary function is to provide high-quality secretarial support for the Bursar and Governors. As an Executive Assistant, responsibilities include managing calendars, making travel arrangements, facilitating meetings, and preparing reports, minutes, andnotes.Main Responsibilities for the Executive Assistant

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Bursar and Governors.
  • Act as the first point of contact among executives, employees, parents, and external partners.
  • Manage the Bursar’s diary, ensuring effective use of time.
  • Provide administration support for the interview process.
  • Assist in data collection questionnaires.
  • Handle post and emails promptly and efficiently.
  • Facilitate meetings, take minutes accurately.
  • Screen and direct phone calls as appropriate.
  • Manage and organize the filing system in the Bursar’s Office.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organize Bursar’s travel and accommodation details.
  • Deal with emergencies discreetly and confidentially.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Bursar and Governors.
Main Responsibilities for the Clerk to Governors
  • Communicate Worksop College diary commitments to Governors.
  • Provide regular newsletters to parents and reports to the Board of Governors.
  • Offer administrative support to the governing body, including arranging meetings and creating minutes.
  • Support the development of governors in their role.
  • Offer advice on governance procedures and improvement.
  • Provide support to the Governing Body by servicing meetings and undertaking administrative duties.
  • Keep abreast of legislation around the Governing Body.
  • Deal with complaints, grievances, or appeal hearings.
  • Have expertise in school governance procedures.
  • Work with the Custos and Headteacher to prepare meeting agendas and distribute papers.
  • Ensure register of Governing Body interests is maintained.
  • Follow up on open actions reported to governors.
  • Submit draft minutes for review and approval within ten calendar days.
  • Maintain copies of terms of reference, scheme of delegation, and committee memberships.
  • Co-ordinate the induction process for new governors.
  • Give advice in advance of a governor’s term expiry or potential vacancy.
  • Liaise with Woodard Corporation and other bodies as required.
  • Manage the appointment, election, and training of all Governors.
  • Attend training and development opportunities.
  • Deal with emergencies discreetly and confidentially.
