Job Description

Deputy Nurse Manager - RGN or RMN QualificationPlymouth£42,500You will be responsible for providing leadership to develop excellent and professional resident centred care within a service that is registered for a maximum of 44 Service Users. Registered Care Categories, Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Physical Disability, Sensory Impairment and Substance Misuse. Take part in the development and implementation of policies to ensure the efficient and effective management of the service. Hours will be delivered by 5 shifts per week, 2 of which are supernumerary.It is imperative that you are a RMN or RGN, proven experience of working in a Senior nurse role, awareness and undertaking of clinical audit and ability to dfri9ve outcome focus planning.Responsibilities of the Deputy Nurse Manager

  • Ensuring compliance with CQC requirements
  • Supervision of Lead Nurse, Shift Leaders, Activity Leader
  • Management of nursing and care staff resources
  • Leadership on reflective practice
  • Promotion of Evidence Based Practice
  • Management and auditing of all care documentation
  • Provision of high quality, nursing support to service users
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager
  • Management and auditing of Governance
  • Rota Management
  • Required On -Call
  • Work with other members of the senior management team to ensure that the service is safe, effective and commercially successful and achieves compliance with all statutory standards
  • To participate in the "managers on call rota"
  • Other Responsibilities of the Deputy Nurse ManagerBe responsible for supervising the delivery of all resident care undertaken within the service. To ensure that each trained Nurse is nominated as a key worker to a group of residents and is responsible for the assessment of needs, setting of goals, reviewing those goals periodically with the objective of offering resident centred care with participation of residents and their relativesTo be responsible for ensuring that all nursing care is offered in the most professional manner possible and with reference to the Company’s Policies and Procedures, The Code of Professional Conduct and other publications of the NMCBy means of risk assessment/risk management safety plans ensure that potential hazards and vulnerability is assessed and plans for managing any identified risks are documented and reviewed regularlyEnsure that all nursing staff within the hospital are aware of their responsibilities towards residents which involves trained staff giving and receiving reports at the commencement and termination of each shift and ensuring that accurate reporting is maintainedWork with Nurses and Clinical Support Staff to ensure that the care they offer is of the standard required to develop and maintain resident care at the optimum levelSupervise members of staff to ensure their understanding and compliance with the Company’s aims and objectives and policiesHave a good knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2015 and to ensure that the house is run in accordance with the national minimum standards as laid down in the ActBe involved with the interviewing and induction of staff who come to work in the service. To ensure that all new staff have a supervisor whilst undergoing their induction to monitor their development and to support on a continuing basis and to assist in the provision of in house training to staff in order to improve and consolidate knowledge and understandingReview the training needs of all staff within the service and work with other senior staff and the organisation’s training lead on arrangements to meet the individuals identified needsWork with senior staff to implement appraisal and to provide supervision to develop professional skills and knowledge and to support individuals with their role and responsibilitiesUndertake regular training to meet the NMC PREP requirements for maintaining re-validation and be able to provide evidence of thisEnsure all staff follow legislative and statutory requirements, e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Hygiene, and CQC Regulations etc.Ensure that allocated staff are aware of support plans and objectives, together with any set activities to be undertakenTo act in accordance with current disciplinary, grievance and complaints proceduresStaff Leadership and Management of the Deputy Nurse Manager
  • To act up in the absence of the registered manager as requested
  • Ensure clarity and effectiveness in developing and designing roles
  • Promote an effective team ethos
  • Complete annual appraisals for all your staff which reflect these priorities
  • Ensure staff have access to appropriate training and development
  • Communicate regularly through meetings with teams and individuals
  • Provide opportunity for two-way feedback
  • Value and treat your team equally
  • Ensure management of staff is consistent with the Company’s HR Policies to the achievement of equality, equity and optimum performance
  • Undertake any other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be allocated
  • Attend meetings as appropriate
  • Fulfilling duties of weekly timetable including any out of hours’ responsibilities
