Job Description

My client is a renowned global business of some 80,000 employees and a turnover of 25bn Euros. This is an exciting opportunity to join them in a role offering broad challenges and excellent opportunities for career development.The role could be based from a number of operational sites across the UK (although ideally Manchester, Sheffield or Wolverhampton and involves travel to other sites as required (around 40%)They now require a Manufacturing / Production Improvement specialist with a proven background to take ownership of the strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, quality and reliability across their Production operations in the UKWhilst my clients processes are Gas/Chemical related we would be interested in candidates from other fast-paced manufacturing backgrounds where the delivery of change and innovation is transforming operational performance.

  • Reporting to the Production Director UK you will identify, lead and deliver strategic business initiatives such as efficiency improvements, application of BOP in customer service, product quality, efficiency and reliability in production operations throughoutthe UK
  • In this role you will be a source of specific expertise in production operations and to improve the efficiency of all production & testing testing operations through identification of Best Practice within and outside the company and support in adoptionof these procedures throughout all Production locations
  • Further you will proactively develop the production strategy to inform investment, maintenance, capex and support the implementation and lead National Productivity /LEAN Projects and coordinate regional working with regional Business Improvement Managers
  • You will identify and drive plant automation / use of digital tools and proactively plan site resources aligned to volume changes current and future
  • Leadership and management of strategic activity related to the future state of the Production function, developing and implementing the production strategy through delivery of projects to achieve our objectives is required in this role
  • You will maintain appropriate levels of interaction and cooperation with Group peers to ensure the exchange of company-wide expertise and best practice and to support the development of the customer service centres in the UK & Ireland
  • In this role you will assist branches in achieving production and testing targets related to SHEQ, Service, Productivity and efficiency targets
  • You will identify, implement, monitor and deliver improvements to support the production branches achieve year efficiency operational cost savings
  • Further you will develop, produce and monitor monthly reporting information to monitor the performance of production operations via standard KPIs at local level, ensuring that variances are recognised and addressed and that learning-points are fed backto the production peer group
  • You will monitor and manage all assigned production projects inc Productivity / LEAN to both budget and time scales

    • You will be a strong strategic thinker, able to translate strategy into implementation and deliver
    • Further you have excellent people / change leadership capability inc in a unionised environment, as well the ability to engage and influence across cross functional senior level stakeholders
    • Excellent networking / influencing skills and ability to deliver and execute change at a pace, aligned to customer feedback are required as well
    • Furthermore you have good analytical / evaluative skills and very good presentation skills, written and verbal communicator
    • You have a degree level qualification and demonstrable ability in implementing strategic programmes
    • Strong project and change management skills and experience are required, ideally LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt
    • RCCP customer demand forecasting and planning
    • The role will require periodic mobility across the UK with occasional secondary support to IrelandKnowledge of ISO9001:2015 operating procedures and systems
    • Commercial awareness and analytical skills are needed for this role
