Job Description

RF Systems Design Engineer - Wokingham, England, UKOur client has developed an award winning LTE-M and NB-IoT chip platform for Internet of Things applications.We are now searching for a Principal level radio Systems and Architecture Engineer to join their award winning team. There is an excellent salary available, and the chance to work in a multi-site, multi-cultural team.The roleYou will own the entire radio top-level and ensure that the specifications and performance are achieved. Theres a lot of interfacing and algorithmic calibration and digital assist that would need to be worked out and you will own all of this definition and coordination. The responsibilities for this role are listed below.

  • Take the proposed 5G architecture and analyse the best way to interface and synchronise clocks and PLLs to be phase-coherent between chips.
  • Work closely with the Baseband design team and make sure all needs and gotchas are addressed.
  • Drive the Radio specifications and own the Radio System and top level simulations
  • Own all Pathwave SystemVue models
  • Define radio, SuperBlock and Block specifications
  • Boundary Specification collaboration
  • Functional Specification collaboration
  • Owner of top level schematic in Cadence and will represent all major radio blocks with behavioural VerilogA from the start.
  • The verilogA would essentially be the Superblock and Sub-block specs in terms of performance criteria.
  • Radio performance and interface verification
  • Create top level simulation test benches
  • Responsible for top level system verification of the radio.
  • Pre-tape-out signoff of the radio performance
  • Own all interfaces and communications between all chips
  • Works directly with Baseband design team and makes sure that communication is streamlined and all overhead needs are clearly defined and executed.
  • Own the overall interface specifications and the verification plan on both sides (RF and BaseBand)
  • Defines any digital assistance required for the radio from the BaseBand chip e.g. Digital pre-distortion, integrated passive device calibration, etc…
