Adoption South East (ASE) is a regional adoption agency which launched on April 1st 2020, when we assumed responsibility for delivering adoption services on behalf of 4 local authorities (Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove) under a partnership agreement. We already have nearly 100 staff working in ASE, including social workers, managers, support workers and dedicated business support staff, but now we are searching for a confident and skilled social worker, to join our friendly and supportive Woking team.ASE operates a ‘hub and spoke’ model, meaning that whilst our Head of Service and some back- office functions operate from Lewes in East Sussex, we also have 4 spokes or offices, one in each local authority delivering services directly to the public. All our staff are employed by one of the partner authorities, under local terms and conditions. In this instance, the successful applicant would be employed on Surrey County Council terms and conditions. If successful, you would work collaboratively with colleagues in our Horsham, Eastbourne and Brighton spokes, as well as at the Woking base. As such, you must be willing and able to travel within and occasionally beyond the ASE region, for which you would receive reimbursement of expenses. You should also be familiar with use of online communications, and be adaptable and able to manage your time to meet the needs of the Service.Within your role you would manage a group of social workers and family support workers, and report to the Woking spoke manager. You would represent the Woking spoke as part of a virtual team, managing the linking and matching process for children across the ASE region with adoption plans. The group meets weekly to identify possible links between children and ASE adopters and hosts profiling events and meet and play sessions at which prospective adopters can meet children and their foster carers. You would also take the lead for tracking Surrey children with respect to adoption, meeting regularly with local authority representatives to identify children who require adoptive families including early permanence (fostering4adoption) and ensuring that children are placed in a timely way-in accordance with national standards. As a key link between the local authority and the Regional Adoption Agency you will be a confident and capable communicator. You will report on family finding to other agencies including courts. You will need to be confident in assessing children’s needs, familiar with local authority processes for placement of children and able to manage data. You will bring a passion and commitment to securing permanence for children through adoption. You would receive monthly supervision, as well as access to regular team meetings, and good practice workshops. We support flexible working arrangements, including scope for working from home for part of the week, and have invested in technology to support our staff with recent roll out of Windows10 devices. To be shortlisted for interview your CV and personal statement will clearly evidence:
