Job Description

The salary offer for our Social Workers is as follows:

  • Social Worker - £35,382 - £39,246 per annum based on a 36 hour working week
  • Senior Social Worker - £40,227 - £44,619 per annum based on a 36 hour working week

Remote working to us is a balance of spending time in our communities, our offices and working remotely from home or wherever works best.The Transition Team, based in Woking or Reigate, is a dynamic and vibrant countywide service for young people aged between 14 and 25. Although we sit in Adult Social Care, our journey with the people we support starts much earlier, at academicyear 9. Within Surrey County Council, the Transition Team sits in a unique and favourable position of being able to undertake frontline work across both Children and Adult Services.Transition Team (Based in Woking or Reigate - You Choose!):Working in the Transition Team, you will benefit from a rich tapestry of experience. We are remodelling from traditional institutional approaches as we challenge inequalities that prevent young people with disabilities and their carers from living a lifefree of discrimination and limitations. We work with a wide range of professionals and providers who enable us to look at an individuals needs holistically and consider our service response from a whole family perspective.We believe in coproduction and feel passionately that the young person should be firmly in control of their life outcomes. Supporting them through the Preparation for Adulthood agenda, we also ensure that our young people have aspirational goals and targetsthat will support them into employment pathways, independent living and all other meaningful occupation.We are looking for people who work with a strength-based approach, are motivated, flexible and who have high professional standards alongside sound knowledge and experience of current legislation. An applied knowledge of The Care Act and The Mental CapacityAct and experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries is essential, alongside experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.For Social Worker roles you will need to have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and be registered with Social Work England. We recognise there will be exceptions to this so please speak to us if you are in anydoubt.For Senior Social Worker roles, substantial post qualification professional experience as a Social Worker would also be required. Some experience of providing professional supervision (which can include to unqualified and/or non-professionalsupervision) would be useful, but we can support your development in this area.Surrey County Council are currently investing in and building a workforce that can proactively meet the demands and challenges facing Adult Social Care (ASC).
