Social Worker – Prison BasedHave you got what it takes to support prisoners and their familiesPact is a highly respected independent charity, which together with its subsidiary, Pact Futures, works across England and Wales to develop and deliver a range of innovative services, providing practical and emotional support to prisoners’ children and families, to prisoners, and to ex-prisoners.Social Worker Responsibilities:We are looking for a Social Worker that will be based in Send prison and act as an advocate for women whose children are in, or at risk of being taken into, local authority care. You will support the mother in prison with participating meaningfully in processes around her children, and work closely with a wide range of local authorities to ensure that services are provided efficiently and effectively. You’ll manage complex cases, planning intervention and support in a well-timed manner and, at all times, making sure that the voices of mothers in prison are heard and represented at all stages. You will also be developing practice and improving standards and quality, helping us to achieve the best possible outcomes for mothers in prison.Social Worker Requirements:You’ll be a qualified Social Worker with a minimum of two years post-qualifying experience. You will have an awareness of, and empathy for, the impact of custody on prisoners and on their children and families; you will also be a good communicator, reliable and enthusiastic. It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a passion for equality and fairness. Knowledge of the criminal justice system would be advantageous, and you must be prepared to be based within the prison environment.About PACT:Pact is an ambitious and growing independent national charity which provides a fresh start for people affected by imprisonment.
