Job Description

The starting salary for this role is £26,080 per annum, working 36 hours per week.Surrey County Councils Planning Service handles planning applications for mineral and waste development as well as development by the council required for the provision of its services, such as schools, libraries, and fire stations.Within this Service, the Planning Technical Support Team handles the technical administrative processes involved in the processing of planning applications for minerals and waste related developments and the county councils own development. Developmentproposals in Surrey can be controversial and involve a significant amount of public interest. The teams work has a strong procedural requirement.In this role you will be involved in the provision of technical administrative support for the planning development management team, including the procedures associated with the processing of planning applications, and providing support for tasks relatedto public consultations, planning appeals, monitoring and enforcement. Training in our procedures and systems will be provided but an aptitude for ICT is essential. Relevant work experience involving information technology and general administration is required.You will have a flexible, mature approach, be computer literate and take a methodical approach to information gathering, recording, and reporting.Your application form / CV and personal statement is very important as it gives you the opportunity to tell us about yourself, your skills and experience and why this is the job for you.To be shortlisted for interview you will:

  • have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Mathematics

  • have strong communication skills with a high standard of spoken and written English
