Job Description

2 x Skilled Operator£19,500 p.a.Witham, Essex39 Hours Per Week, 4 Days - NO WEEKENDS OR SHIFT WORK7.30AM - 17.15PMDo you know how to operate manual/semi and automatic machinery Are you experienced in working within a warehouse environment If so, our client based in Witham, Essex is looking for you!As a Skilled Operator you shall be responsible for safely and efficiently operating manual/semi and automatic machinery within our clients production line along with other equipment as and when required. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate basic competence and basic technical understanding of the equipment.Key Areas of ResponsibilitySafety, Health & Environment (SHE)As a Skilled Operator, you shall need to adhere to the SHE standards including:

  • Working to correct any unsafe practices and immediately address any unsafe conditions.
  • Promote SHE activities, targeting zero accident behaviour.
  • Report accidents and incidents, ensuring personal involvement in investigating accidents/incidents within your area.
  • Understand, and input, on risk assessments within your area ensuring that controls are followed.
  • Intervene if any employees, contractors or visitors are putting themselves, or anyone else, at risk.
    • Quality
  • Understand and follow all ISO procedures.
  • Understand and ensure the key points of BRC standards and independent hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Perform internal audits as and when required.
  • Perform & record tests on products as and when required.
  • report any non-conformances, including completing paperwork.
  • Ensure repack & rework notes are completed accurately.
  • Guide Auditors and Visitors around the plant.
  • Maintain HACCP principles, and if needed, become a member of the HACCP team.
    • OperationsThe Skilled Operator role shall require you to understand performance standards required, and when off standard take action to correct them. This will include:
  • Ensuring that housekeeping and GMP standards are maintained.
  • Raise Works Orders on HICS and collate all paperwork for runs.
  • ISO / BRC procedures, involvement in writing and adherence to.
  • Change over and run 6 machine centres and be capable of training others.
  • Ensure that the machines are running at the required output.
  • Collect all performance management data.
  • Identify any opportunities to improve within your area.
    • Customer ServiceThe Skilled Operator role will require the successful candidates to focus on 100% achievement of the plan (OTIF) at all times. You will also need to have a mature, positive and open attitude to colleagues and all other departments within the business. In addition you shall need to:
  • Establish and maintain good customer relationships with other internal departments, promoting the internal customer concept to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with any issues or opportunities.
  • Use a team approach when dealing with issues that affect the team and / or its performance.
    • Contract labour
  • Intervene promptly to deal with temp labour issues, escalating as appropriate.
    • HMRC
  • Follow site procedures ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
    • Security The Skilled Operators shall need to be vigilant of employees, contractor and visitors on site, intervening when necessary on suspicion of any illegal activity.This is an exciting opportunity for 2 Skilled Operators to join our clients expanding team!
