In partnership with a specialist school, we are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the school starting from January 2024.This is a temporary position initially, but an excellent ‘foot-in-the-door’ opportunity, where you could gain a permanent role within the school further down the line.Working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.45pm term-time only.About the School:• The school caters for students with additional needs, which include: Sensory and Physical Impairment, Cognition and Learning Needs such as SLD, MLD, SPLD, GDD, Communication and Interaction Issues, including ASC, ADHD.• Purpose-built for children and young people from 4-18 years.• Smaller class sizes, with approx. 8-10 students as a maximum.• Increased staffing and support, with a Class Teacher and at least 2 support staff per class.Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:• Providing individual and group support to students with complex needs i.e., Autism, Down’s Syndrome, ADHD.• Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and resources as necessary to meet the needs of individual students.• Monitoring and recording student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).• Supporting students in accessing sensory activities and therapies.• Liaising with parents and carers as required.Qualifications and Experience (Desirable, but not Essential):• Experience of working with children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.• Knowledge and understanding of SEND.• A positive and caring attitude, with the ability to provide support and care to students.• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), then we would love to hear from you.- Please get in contact because these roles will not be around for long.
