Job Description

Junior / Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Brickwork£25,000 - £35,000Full Time / Part TimeWickham Bishops, EssexCentral London sites , south east, Essex, main WickhamAn exciting career opportunity for a driven and aspirational recent graduate or trainee Quantity Surveyor.The purpose of this role:A junior quantity surveyor is a professional who assists senior quantity surveyors in managing the cost and contractual aspects of construction projects. Some of the main duties of a junior quantity surveyor are:

  • Assisting in preparing cost estimates and budgets for projects
  • Assisting in monitoring and controlling project expenditure and cash flow
  • Assisting in preparing and reviewing invoices, claims and variations
  • Assisting in managing risks and resolving disputes
  • Assisting in reporting on project performance and progress
  • Prepare detailed accurate bills of quantities in accordance with SMM7.
  • Pricing bills of quantities from first principles including labour, materials, plant and equipment, subcontracts, preliminaries etc.
  • Completion of client tender PQQ information.
  • Completion of client tender bespoke information required to be returned with tenders.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Attendance at all required pre & post tender interviews.
  • Follow up on submitted bids to ascertain project status.
  • Preparation of presentation collateral for new and existing clients.
  • Maintain tender register.
  • Design development and market research where required.
To work as a junior quantity surveyor in the brickwork industry, you need to have:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in quantity surveying or a related field, or be studying towards one
  • Experience or interest in working with brick and blockwork projects
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations and contracts
  • Good communication, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
