Post Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory MedicinePost Location NHS LanarkshireWe are seeking applications from enthusiastic and innovative individuals who want to join our existing team of 7 Consultant Respiratory Physicians in Wishaw General Hospital. This post is a new post being created to support a move towards increasing respiratory planned care capacity, managing an increased number of inpatient respiratory beds and moving towards seven day specialist respiratory inpatient cover. Suitably qualified applicants will be encouraged to develop a respiratory sub-specialty interest to complement the existing respiratory specialist services. The successful candidate for this post will work closely with the 7 existing Consultants in respiratory medicine providing a comprehensive respiratory service. There is also a senior specialty doctor and 6 specialist nurses in addition to 7 trainees. The unit offers specialist asthma, interstitial lung disease and cancer clinics in addition to providing some sleep services. The post holder will have a commitment to Acute Medical Receiving (approximately 1 in 14).We have recently taken steps to expand our non-medical workforce by employing and training Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The hospital is affiliated to the University of Glasgow. The medical department is committed to the training of Foundation Doctors, Core and Higher Specialist medical trainees, GP Trainees and Acute Care Common Stem trainees.Wishaw is a medium sized town situated in the centre of Lanarkshire. It has excellent transport links and is only 20 minutes travelling time from Glasgow with access to excellent shops and first class theatres, visitor attractions and sporting facilities. Edinburgh is also within easy travelling distance. Both cities have international airports and a host of leisure activities. Wishaw is only 10 minutes from the picturesque Clyde Valley where there are amazing opportunities for those with an interest in outdoor pursuits. There are options for housing in the city, town or countryside.
