Job Description

Hours: 4 days on 4 days off, working nights from 9pm - 9amThe Role:As a Night Concierge you will be responsible forproviding advice, support and guidance to homeless single people from all backgrounds and ages, at our hostel in Wisbech. You will achieve this by providing a supportive and welcoming environment and ensuring that each service user is fully supported in their development and progression to independence, according to their individual support plans and self-determined goals.Our Night Concierge will:

  • Ensure the health and safety / security of the building is monitored carefully throughout the night
  • Ensure welfare checks, along with encouraging a night-time routine for all clients and embedding boundaries and rules set by the project
  • Ensure accurate records of recording are completed and handed over to the day staff, including any incidents or accidents that may occur throughout the night shift
  • Work with the Senior Facilities Night worker / Night Services Manager to manage and carry out stock taking, ordering and organizing of consumable products, such as cleaning materials and linen products
  • Work with the Senior Facilities Worker to ensure that the cleanliness of the building, especially the public areas are cleaned to a high standard and that the site is handed over to the day staff each day ready to use
  • Work with the Senior Facilities Night Worker/ Night Services Manager to ensure the process of void hostel rooms are prepared for re-let to a high standard including cleaning, repairs and replacement of replenishable stock

We’re tackling the stigma associated with homelessness and helping those who come through our doors, to get back on their feet and move on with their lives, independently.Skills/Personal qualities:Our Night Concierge must have:
  • A good standard of education including math and English at GCSE (or equivalent) grade C level or above
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining good administrative based processes and procedures
  • Good knowledge of using IT systems applicable to administration including databases
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice
  • Up to date knowledge of Safeguarding legislation
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults
  • Excellent listening skills when dealing with customer enquiries
  • The ability to build relationships, with both internal and external customers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A non-judgmental and calm approach
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to personal development and learning
    • The following would be advantageous:
  • A Food Hygiene certificate
  • Knowledge of the UK benefits system
  • Experience in working with adults with mental health issues
  • Experience in working with adults with substance abuse issues
  • Knowledge and experience of client support procedures and systems
