Job Description

Closing date:12th February 2024.Location: Community based in Cambridgeshire with some homeworking elements.Hours: 21 and 28 hours available.We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Community Development Coordinator to work in Cambridgeshire alongside our current Dementia Support services.We are looking for someone to take the lead on Health Inequalities and ensure the local communities/teams and organisations have the required information regarding local services to support development of Dementia services across Cambridgeshire. This will ensureit is accessible to underrepresented communities and those not engaging with Dementia Support and services.There will be a requirement to work in the community, facilitating groups or events and meeting the public. Relationship building with local communities and minority groups will be a key element to this post. The role will also involve working with PrimaryCare and local Integrated Networks.About youYou will:

  • Have a good understanding of dementia, the impact of dementia on people and experience in working with people with dementia in the community, especially seldom heard from groups.
  • Have experience of working with the equalities and diversity agenda and have the ability to lead on this locally.
  • Demonstrate passion and eagerness to help make a difference to help support those affected by dementia.
  • Possess some previous experience or knowledge and understanding of health inequalities and seldom heard communities.
  • Have experience of community development work.
  • Show strong organisational and time management skills. This will include the ability to work effectively on your own initiative and working collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • Possessgood presentation skills and be able to speak confidently to an audience.
  • Have excellent IT skills and some experience of working on record management systems, including the ability to use Microsoft packages confidently.
  • Demonstrate some previous experience of making local contacts and networking with various services and providers.
  • Exhibit a non-judgmental approach, be empathetic and commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Have experience and knowledge of role managing or working alongside volunteers and have the understanding to champion the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services.
  • Be able to travel independently across the required region with access to own vehicle.
