Job Description

  • Reviewing the integrity of the Assistant Accountants work in preparing monthly management accounts for all areas of responsibility, highlighting areas of concern for the business
  • Review or prepare accruals and prepayments workings and supporting schedules, ensure accuracy and agreement to ledger
  • Review and post month-end journals e.g. Sales Analysis
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations e.g. bank accounts and cash equivalents.
  • Reconciliation of inter company accounts
  • Prepare data for KPI measurements
  • Variance analysis and investigation
    • Overseas Budget Management
  • Reconciliation of foreign factories budgets
  • Liaise with Factory Accountants to ensure timely payments are made to factories
  • Scrutinise and audit the factories backup documentation for budgets.
    • VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales List
  • Prepare quarterly VAT Returns and submit to authorities via portal ensuring VAT liabilities are settled in a timely manner
  • Reconcile VAT Return to Nominal Ledger and investigate differences
  • Ensuring correct use of VAT classification by accounts staff
  • Prepare monthly Intrastat and EC Sales Lists
  • Prepare and submit statistical returns for ONS (UK)

  • Identify process improvements and actively be involved with change management
  • Liaise with and provide support to Finance Accountant and Finance Director as required
  • Cover the monthly Payroll for holidays.
  • Assist in the year end process and liaise with auditors.
    • Skills and experience
  • Qualified/part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Minimum 3 years experience as accountant in a fast paced environment, ideally in ecommerce
  • Excellent IT skills (office and excel) and experience of working accounting systems, preferably Sage
  • Experience in analysing large volume of data
  • VAT, EC Sales List and Intrastat
  • Experience in Payroll would be desirable, but not essential
    • Personal qualitiesYou should be diligent, driven and adaptable to change, taking initiative to develop new ways of reporting or analysing data.
