Operations Manager : WirralAre you looking for your next challengeThen read on....Biffa is the UKs leading integrated waste management company providing collection, recycling, treatment, disposal and technologically driven energy generation services.This is an exciting opportunity for a determined and self-motivated individual to operate at a senior level on this highly prestigious contract.Candidates should possess proven management experience (not necessarily gained in the Waste industry), you will be a self-starter who puts health and safety first, develops and maintains excellent Client/Customer relationships and can demonstrate the ability to engage with staff to motivate and drive performance.JOB PURPOSEThe role holder, reporting directly to the Business Manager, will be responsible for managing the Managers and their teams and overseeing the overall efficient and effective delivery of the Depots daily street cleansing and collections operations, ensuring exceptionally high levels of customer service are maintained at all times, whilst delivering on the Contracts KPIs, including health & safety and compliance, and supporting the achievement of the Companys balanced business plans.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES1 Ensure that the Neighbourhood Managers and Supervisors on the contract deliver on all the service requirements of the Contract.2 Constantly review the street cleansing operation and the collection services to ensure that efficiency levels are continuously improved upon, bringing value-added financial performance to the overall Contract.3 Work with the General Manager to develop and implement innovative new and/or additional services for the Client, the Council generally and to external businesses, which continuously improve on the financial performance of the Contract.4 Ensure that all Company policies and procedures and legal obligations are understood and adhered to by all members of staff.5 Work with suppliers to maximise the benefit of service delivery versus cost.6 Management of the SIT meetings in the depot and ensure these are held on a monthly basis or as otherwise required by Company procedures.7 Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Client and internal/external customers. Attendance Client/customer meetings as required. Ensure that all reports required as part of the Contract are delivered in time for meetings and any follow up actions are completed timely.8 Ensure all records and systems are maintained for the effective and compliant operation of the Contract.9 Work with the General Manager to ensure that all financial/ budgeted targets are achieved for the Contract including but not limited to overtime, staff numbers and revenue.10 Minimise the use of agency staff and hire vehicles.11 Deputise for the General Manager in their absence.12 Carry out any other such reasonable job related tasks as the Company may require you to undertake from time to time.PERSON SPECIFICATIONEducation / Qualifications:? Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & EnglishExperience: ? People and health & safety management in a unionised environment, including disciplinaries, grievances, recruitment, etc? Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs? Experience of vehicle management : CPC, tachos, Road Transport Directive? Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational / service environment? Experience of producing and analysing reports using Microsoft Office Suite and internal IT systemsTechnical Knowledge:? Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service environment? General knowledge of environmental responsibilities and existing health and safety legislation? Working knowledge of CRM systemSkills and Behaviours:? Excellent planning skills? Ability to influence and persuade people? Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome.? Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines? Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues? Analytical with the ability to measure & monitor data and take appropriate corrective action? Able to communicate at all levels, both in verbal & written form.General? Full driving licence? Demonstrate initiative and be able to work unsupervised? Flexible working approach?
