Job Description

REED Legal are recruiting on behalf of a well-established niche firm based in Merseyside who deal with Civil Litigation and Court of Protection departments. They represent clients in several areas including North and mid Wales.Seeking a determined and enthusiastic graduate who is looking to work within Mental Health law. This is an entry position which has the potential to progress to a paralegal role. For those aiming at qualification this role has the potential of a future trainingcontract.General roleDepending on experience either trainee legal secretary or legal assistant. To provide cost-effective administration and support to senior fee earners in the work of the department.Skills, Knowledge and ExperienceLaw Graduate or CILEXPrevious legal experienceKnowledge of MHA and desire to work in this area.Strong organisational and communication skillsTact and resilienceEffective verbal and written communication skillsCompetent in the use of Information TechnologyA full driving licence and access to a vehicleKey tasks & responsibilities

  • Fast and accurate audio typing, accurate production of correspondence and documents using digital dictation. Able to produce a high standard of work often to tight deadlines whilst maintain accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
  • File opening, closure, and archiving
  • Speaking to clients, experts, hospitals, and courts on telephone and taking detailed yet concise messages and assisting when appropriate
  • Managing fee earners diaries, updating key dates and appointments
  • Accurate completion of time recording
  • Maintaining careful checks that all deadlines are met.
  • Photocopying, scanning, printing, filing and other general admin tasks.
  • Ability to prioritise and cope with changing demands
