An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Learning Disability Nurse to join the Wirral Community Learning Disability Team, which provides multidisciplinary care to people with learning disabilities, from its base at Leasowe Millennium Centre. The CLDT is co-located with social care and has excellent working relationships with the CCG meaning that good multiagency working is achieved on a daily basis. The CLDT is part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Learning Disabilities, Neuro Developmental & Acquired Brain Injury Care Group, and has excellent governance structures. We have strong links to local universities as a Trust, and take an active role in leading in Clinical Research.Learning Disability Nursing is a valued and respected component of the CLDT, and Lead Practitioner (band 7) post offers a key leadership opportunity. The post would be attractive to someone on a full time basis who has the skills and enthusiasm to provide robust support and strong clinical leadership to the nursing and wider Multi-Disciplinary Team in Wirral, whilst working with individuals who present with a range of complex health needs, where a high level of clinical skill is required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of National and Local drivers relating to the support of people with a learning disability and experience of working with people who present with behaviour that challenges as well as being able to work confidently within a Positive Behavioural Support framework. The post holder will also be involved in broader service and professional issues, such as training and research.
