Job Description

Homeless Prevention & Assessment Officer ~We are working in partnership with a Local authority based in the Merseyside area who are seeking a Homeless Prevention & Assessment Officer to work within the Homelessness Services.*** Must have experience of using the LOCATA HPA2 system ***Contract- 3-6 months with a view to extended into a permanent position.Full Time Hours– 35 Hours per week.Location– CH41.Rate of Pay- £24+ per hour – Negotiable depending on experience.Main Duties:

  • Provide Homeless Prevention Advice & Assistance to households who are threatened with homelessness and to assess and process homelessness applications made under current legislation.
  • Homeless legislation (Part VII of the Housing Act1996/2002and the Homeless Reduction Act 2018) and experience of developing personalised housing plans.
  • Work within a homeless/housing environment and managing a demanding caseload, carrying out assessments and investigations in line with legislation.
  • Use of prevention tools to sustain existing housing or secure suitable and affordable alternative accommodation.
  • Investigate issues in a sensitive manner, accurately record statements and findings and effectively negotiate resolutions with accommodation providers and landlords, in order to prevent homelessness.
Experience/Knowledge Needed:
  • Local Authority / Public Sector.
  • Homeless Reduction Act.
  • Housing Act Part VII.
