Job Description

Family ParalegalWirral£20,000 - £23,000This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking a fresh career challenge in the legal field. The role is a full-time position in the Family team, specialising in domestic abuse cases, located at the Wirral Office. The job entails a wide range ofresponsibilities that offer a chance to grow and develop within a vibrant team.In this role, the successful candidate will have the chance to:

  • Open Files: Manage the initial setup of case files.
  • Provide Daily Assistance: Offer valuable support to senior fee earners on various tasks.
  • Update Clients: Keep clients informed about the progress of their cases.
  • Communicate Effectively: Engage with courts, experts, and agencies as required.
  • Manage Appointments: Schedule and coordinate appointments.
  • Handle Phone Communications: Receive and make phone calls.
  • Prepare Legal Documents: Assemble bundles of documents for court hearings.
  • Interact with Clients: Engage with clients in person and remotely when needed.
  • Offer Administrative Support: Assist with general legal and administrative duties, including typing.
  • Manage Diaries: Keep schedules and appointments organized.
  • Support in Court: Attend court proceedings to assist counsel and clients.
  • Assist with Legal Aid: Conduct legal aid assessments and assist in applications.
  • Initial Client Appointments: Schedule and gather initial instructions from clients.
The ideal candidate for this opportunity should:

  • Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating both client and team requirements.
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
  • At least 12 months of prior experience in a family law team.
  • Have experience with Case Management Systems and Laserforms (desirable).
  • Be familiar with Excel spreadsheets (desirable).
  • Be comfortable using the Legal Aid Agency CCMS portal.
